ASDA League East Divisions round up

Leaders Llantrisant saw off Llantwit Fardre with a relentless defensive display in their 29-0 win while Rumney were made to work much harder for their fifth successive win, edging past Rhydyfelin 28-22.

Matthew Hutchings produced the solo performance of the weekend, scoring a majestic 26 points in a man of the match display for Treherbert against Ynysybwl. The full-back ran in two tries and booted five conversions and two penalties in the 41-24 win.

Pill Harriers registered their first win of the season as Gareth Lloyd, Jim Torten and Gareth Hessell all went over in a desperately-needed 201-0 win over fellow strugglers Nantymoel. Meanwhile a late try saw Mountain Ash earn a draw in the basement battle at Croesyceiliog – earning both sides their first point of the league.

Outside-half Paul Hale converted his own try as Newport HSOB inflicted a 26-16 defeat on travelling Pontllanfraith to keep on the heels of Division Three leaders Penallta, comfortable 35-3 winners at Brinithel.


Ken Morris kept Pencoed in the driving seat in Division Three (south-east), scoring 18 points, including a try, in his side’s impressive 37-3 victory at Nelson. Llanished, also undefeated this season, remain second courtesy of their hard-fought 17-10 win over Cardiff rivals Fairwater.


Ice-cool Jamie Lyons was the match-winner for Trinant in Division Four as the full-back showed a calm head to slot over four penalties in a narrow 12-10 win over Talywain, who missed a late conversion to share the points. League leaders Garndiffaith proved their title credentials, winning the top of the table clash with Monmouth 41-16.


Former Wales No8 Hemi Taylor was on the score sheet for Penarth who share top spot in Division Four (South-East) with Bedlinog.


Abertillery moved into third place in Division Five with a 23-15 win over Usk thanks to tries from Luke Pegler and Gareth Collier, while Rhiwbina stole pole position from St Albans in Division Five (South-East) with an emphatic 22-0 win.
