Rowland Phillips’s outfit will be boosted by the arrival of ex-Scarlets and Llanelli outside half Gareth Bowen who could make his debut on Saturday. Bowen, 27, has been drafted in to replace the impressive James Hook who left for the Ospreys and is now establishing himself in Gareth Jenkins’s Wales side. Neath clinched the deal with Bowen earlier this week, pipping a number of other clubs including Leeds to the experienced fly-half.
Second-placed Ebbw Vale take on bottom of the table Glamorgan Wanderers who have suffered a miserable start to the campaign with just seven points from 30. The Steelmen are level on points with first-placed Newport so a win is a must if they are to keep their title-winning dreams alive.
At Stradey Park Llanelli, unbeaten since September, play host to league leaders Newport who saw-off Glamorgan Wanderers 23-11 last time out. A win for Llanelli would take them to within three points of the Black and Ambers while an away win would ensure Newport hold onto the top spot for another week.
Third from bottom Swansea go head to head with second from bottom Llandovery at St Helens. The sides are level on nine points each with three wins apiece so far this season and Saturday’s result could prove crucial in this year’s relegation battle.
At Sardis Road Pontypridd clash with a Maesteg outfit looking for a sixth win of the season and at Pandy Park Cross Keys take on third-placed Aberavon.
