Bedwas lost out 17-3 to Swansea last time out and will be targeting three points from Saturday’s clash as they attempt to ease their own relegation worries.
At the Brewery Field Bridgend play host to high-flying Newport who eased past Maesteg 18-40 last weekend. The Ravens notched a useful 14-5 victory against old rivals Cardiff in their last outing but know the Black and Ambers will provide their toughest test so far.
Cardiff and Aberavon go head to head at the Arms Park in what promises to be a thrilling tie. Both sides suffered defeats last weekend and both will be quick out of the blocks to secure the points on Saturday.
The Wizards were humbled 37-8 by Pontypridd and remain six points adrift of leaders Newport and four points behind second placed Ebbw Vale.
Cross Keys need a return to winning ways against Glamorgan Wanderers on Saturday if they are to stay clear of the looming relegation battle. The Keys lost out to second from bottom Llandovery last weekend and anything but a victory against another of the league’s strugglers could plunge them into relegation woe.
The Wanderers will be keen to start converting performances into results after a number of recent losses which they will feel could have been wins.
Second placed Ebbw Vale take on Maesteg on Saturday and are looking to build on a useful draw with champions Neath last time out. The Steelmen have shown they can fight it out with the big guns in the premiership and a win against the Old Parish will have Newport warily looking over their shoulder.
Third-placed Llanelli welcome champions Neath and will be looking to go one better than Ebbw Vale who held the title-holders to a draw last time out.
The Scarlets will be keen to strengthen their championship bid and deal another blow to Rowland Phillips’s hopes of a third successive title in the process. Yet the Welsh All Blacks – now eight points behind leaders Newport – will be under no illusions as to what is expected of them on Saturday.
In the day’s other fixture Pontypridd travel to the coast to take on Swansea at St Helens.
