“I have never been less than 80% successful,” he said. “Last year the groin injury affected my kicking, but it’s sorted now.”
Having bagged 18 points for Wales against the Pacific Islanders in November, Sweeney says he was happy with his form and wants more starts in the Welsh No.10 jersey.
“The coaches told me to go out and relax against the Pacific Islands and I came off with 18 points. I did all I could and they told me that.
“All the players deserve praise. They’ve got everyone playing really well. It was a good squad effort and now they have given the staff a headache, which is better for us and for Welsh rugby.”
Sweeney is also happy to be playing at ten again after being tried at 12.
“With the change of coach Wales see me as a ten,” he said. “I would play at 12 if there were injuries but Nigel (Davies) and Gareth (Jenkins) want me at 10.”
Yet Sweeney is focused on Saturday’s game in Bucharest. “We’ve spoken to the Bristol boys and they said it would be tough out there. We’ve got to be confident and look for a bonus point victory,” he said.
“We beat them 66-10 last week and we could have scored a few more. A bonus point would be good, then Bristol will be the big game in the group.”
