The Welsh All Blacks are chasing a record third successive championship but have been eclipsed this season by the form of the Steelmen, Pontypridd and Newport. Rowland Phillips’s outfit are six points behind Ebbw Vale, in pole position, and know they must stand up and be counted if they are to clinch a third title on the bounce.

The Ravens languish in mid-table, eleven points off top spot, and while any championship ambitions may be unlikely, they would love to be a thorn in Phillips’s side.

Basement dwellers Llandovery front up to third placed Newport at Church Bank hoping to reduce their five point deficit at the foot of the table. The Drovers suffered another crushing defeat last weekend, going down 42-21 to Cardiff at the Arms Park.

With everything still to play for the Black and Ambers will have their sights set on three points as they look to put pressure on Ebbw Vale and Pontypridd.

At the Talbot Athletic ground Aberavon, who humbled Ebbw Vale last weekend, take on a Llanelli side that lost 14-8 to Bridgend in their last outing. The Wizards gave their best performance of the season against the would-be champions while the Scarlets had an afternoon to forget at the Brewery Field.

Second from bottom Cross Keys look to distance themselves from struggling Llandovery when Cardiff travel to Pandy Park on Saturday.

At St Helens, Swansea welcome league-leaders Ebbw Vale who must prove their title-winning credentials. With Pontypridd, Newport and Neath close behind, the Steelmen know they cannot afford another slip if they want to win the championship race.

Glamorgan Wanderers and Maesteg go head-to-head at the Memorial Ground in a clash that pits the last two sides to be promoted from the old division one. The Wanderers and the Old Parish have both shown they can rough it with the big boys in Wales’s top flight and Saturday’s fixture will be hotly contested.

At Bridge Field third from bottom Bedwas face up to the challenge of second placed Pontypridd. Simon King’s side are hot on the heels of leaders Ebbw Vale and will be looking for a 13th win of the season on Saturday.
