Family Robinson extend Blues contracts
The brothers have been linked to moves with high profile Guinness Premiership teams and their decision to stay at the Arms Park is a triumph for Blues Coach Dai Young.
“I’m delighted that both are to continue their impressive careers here,” Young told BBC Wales Sport. “Jamie and Nicky are extremely popular with our fans, not just because of their undoubted abilities, but because they are true Blues.
“They have always given everything for the team and it is fitting that during the contract Jamie will be able to celebrate his tenth year at the Arms Park.”
The brothers are a part of the Blues’ youth system and are testament to the approach that is adopted by the forward-thinking region, which is paying dividends at an interational level.
Centre Jamie has six tries in seventeen appearances for his country. He has played in all the RBS Six Nations games this year and scored a fine try against France last weekend. Jamie, 26, is the top try-scorer for the Blues, having scored twenty-two in sixty-four appearances for the region. He was the Celtic League’s top try-scorer in the 2003-2004 season.
Younger brother Nicky, 25, is the top points scorer for the region with 476 points, including fifteen tries and seven drop goals. He has made seventy-eight appearances for the Blues and is second only to John Yapp on eighty for the most appearances for the region. Unfortunately he has found himself slipping down the pecking order for the Wales No.10 jersey behind Ceri Sweeney.
