Wales Team Medical Report: Issue 6
Jones is expected to recover from the eye injury which forced him from the field against Italy in order to face the old enemy in the final game of the 2007 RBS Six Nations Championship (5.30pm).
Prop Chris Horsman and hooker Matthew Rees will both also be fit and available for selection according to team physio Mark Davies.
“As a consequence of a punch to the head Stephen suffered a laceration to his eyebrow which was stitched, but took most of the impact to the eye socket,” said Davies. “This became painful, restricting full vision. He was fine to resume playing in the second half, but he was forced to withdraw early as the eye became progressively more irritable.
“We are evaluating Stephen on a daily basis with a view to the problem resolving and him resuming full training. The issue should resolve itself during the course the week.
“Chris retired early in the second half to be replaced by Adam Jones. This was a recurrence of an old foot problem which we are managing and we don’t forsee any further issues in the run up to the weekend.
“Matthew Rees had an impact injury to his calf which we anticipate will settle down over the next forty-eight hours.”
