UWIC Ladies head to Twickenham
UWIC Ladies will take on the old enemy, Loughborough, at the home of English rugby (kick-off 12.30pm). UWIC have had remarkable success in the competition, stealing the title a total of three times since the year 2000.
The only team to better this record is their opposition, who have notched up four wins in the last six years, ensuring a fierce contest.
The team is scattered with Welsh International players including Wales centre Rachel Poolman and hooker Rhian Bowden and they will be looking to fly the Welsh flag at England’s HQ.
UWIC’s Coach Alan Sheppard commented, “We are looking forward to the biggest challenge of our rugby season. It goes without saying that UWIC versus Loughborough is always a great contest and it is superb to bring the two biggest sporting universities together in a brilliant setting.
“The whole squad is very excited about the match and producing a performance that will hopefully enable them to take the title.”
Not to be outdone, UWIC Men’s 1st XV will play UWE Hartpury College in the men’s final at Twickenham, kicking off at 3.00pm. Supporters’ buses have been arranged and tickets can be purchased through UWIC’s Athletic Union.
