U14s
North Wales U14 girls lost to West Wales 20-0 despite playing a good game with a strong defence. The rucking by the forwards was particularly noteworthy ashey showed that they had learned from the experiences of last year and have improved their skills.
The backs ran well, particularly Ellie Evans and Gwen Harries who both almost broke through several times. There were some strong tackles from several players, Gwenllian Deiniol stopped several certain West Wales tries.
Some strong drives from the Gogledd girls exerted pressure on the West Wales defence. However, the West Wales girls proved too strong, seeing off the enterprise of the girls from North Wales. Their superior passing skills, game awareness and experience brought them victory.
U17s
Impressive performances were seen from many of the girls. Glain Griffiths put in a strong performance with some superb passes and blistering runs. Sian Williams proved invaluable in driving forward from the base of the scrum.
Abi Beards played well from the base of the scrum linking well with Leung. The forwards unit worked hard against a better organised and more experienced West Wales pack. Hooker Glain Griffiths managed to win consistent ball, sometimes against the West Wales put in.
The line outs worked well, with Sian Williams hoisted aloft by Brea Leung and Kumari Tilakawardane. However, again the West Wales team proved that their experience and skill made all the difference in winning this encounter.
