The tickets go on offer to all Welsh rugby clubs and debenture holders from today for them to have the first chance of securing a place at the game. At midday on Friday of this week the first release of tickets will then go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster on 08705 582 582 or via Ticketmaster Online.
The Welsh Rugby Union has carried out its first seating review of the Millennium Stadium since 1999 and unveiled a new structure based on splitting blocks of seats into more clearly defined price bands based on their true value to fans. The review has identified which seats are regarded as the primary locations and the pricing for the South Africa game has five bands. Under the review some seats in the stadium have gone down in price while others have increased according to their location.
For the South Africa game the price categories range from £20 to £60 with middle range tickets costing £40, £45 or £50. The new prices are broadly in line with the ticket structure at grounds like Murrayfield in Scotland while Twickenham seats in England cost from £40 to £75 each.
WRU Group Chief Executive, Roger Lewis said: “We have taken soundings from a wide range of people about what the fairest structure for seat prices at the Millennium Stadium should be. We have to fall in line with structures at similar venues for similar events elsewhere and we remain highly competitive.
“Every Welsh rugby fan wanted to see Wales face South Africa in a Rugby World Cup quarter final so this game will be of great interest. It is also a great opportunity for the rugby fans of Wales to give our squad a boost of confidence by cheering them on and welcoming them back to Wales.
“The South Africa match will fill an international gap between the Rugby World Cup and the next Six Nations to ensure our fans have some fantastic international rugby to watch here in Wales.”
