The Dragons lie in fourth place in the Magners League following back-to-back wins against Ulster and Edinburgh. But Turner insists his men need to step up a level to compete against the current Heineken Cup holders.
Turner said: “I’m pleased with the start we have made in the Magners League. However, we need to be more ruthless and need to step it up as we go into the EDF Energy Cup and Heineken Cup campaigns.
“Wasps have a great history but during the professional era they have been right up amongst the best.
“They have always been in and around the top of the Zurich and Guinness Premiership and they won the Shield in 2002 and they’ve won the Heineken Cup twice and are now rightly current Heineken Cup holders.Their success has not come overnight but they have worked at it.”
The Dragons make two changes for the Anglo-Welsh match at Rodney Parade. Martyn Thomas replaces the injured Wales international Kevin Morgan at fullback while Dan Lydiate comes in for Andrew Hall at flanker.
The Dragons also include Wales internationals Ceri Sweeney, Michael Owen and Colin Charvis and welcome back centre Paul Emerick on the replacements bench having served his five week ban from the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
