Davies’s side crashed to defeat in Edinburgh and rued the poor decision-making by his young team that ultimately proved costly.
He said: “I’m frustrated and disappointed that we didn’t get the performance we wanted and at the moment, the results are following. The players are just not reaching the levels they are capable of. We’re not performing and are far too inconsistent.
“We know we’re always capable of scoring tries and Regan scored three nice tries but we have to limit the number of penalties we’re conceding. We made some poor decisions and execution which were crucial and Edinburgh capitalised.
“We prepared well and had a good enough team and we were confident of winning the match. Despite the number of young players, we had a good blend of experience in the back-line and up front we had a number of international players so it’s no excuse.”
