The Scarlets head coach is without several senior players on international duty with Wales against world champions South Africa.
Debutant Morgan Stoddart, Mark Jones, Dwayne Peel and Alix Popham are all unavailable together with injured pair Stephen Jones (thigh) and Matthew Rees (hand).
And despite shipping 12 tries in their two previous matches against Clermont Auvergne and London Wasps in the Heineken Cup, Davies has selected five players aged 21 or under in his back-line.
Davies said: “We’re bitterly disappointed because we want to win every game but there are good things to come from the defeats. We’ve had two heavy games but we’ve shown patches of a performance. The key thing is the effort has been there and now we have to play for the full 80.
“We’ve got to be persistant with these guys because I believe in the next couple of years we’ll have a great side.”
