Welsh Exiles U18 5 Irish Exiles U18 25
On a beautiful sunny day in London, at St. Mary’s College Twickenham, the Welsh Exiles U18s were entertained by the Irish Exiles for the seventeenth consecutive season.
The Exiles team consisted of boys who had attended the camp in the summer and a number of new boys recommended by schools and coaches.
The Irish were stronger in the front row and the score at half time was 19 points to 5 to the Irish. The score could have been closer had the Welsh Exiles made better decisions and played for position; on occasions the game was played too hastily, resulting in wasted attacking positions.
The second half was a much closer affair as the Exiles competed better and conceded only six points to a side that had played together many times before.
The Welsh Exiles did not include their two Gwent Dragon representatives but used the match to provide further opportunities for others to be identified. Welsh try scorer David Francis was awarded the Welsh Exiles Man of the Match.
