Llantrisant, who had won only two of their seven league games before this weekend, produced a whirlwind second-half display against the leaders to come from 13-5 down with Holloway at the heart of everything.
Kerslake said: “The boys defended manfully in the first half and really put their bodies on the line. In the second half we came out with a different attitude and, as good as Pontypool’s backs had been, they couldn’t live with us – especially Glen, whose pace was electric.
“We knew this result was around the corner after the Beddau game and we thought if we can match them, we can match anyone. We should have got more out of the games with Newbridge and Newport Saracens too, but this result sets us up now and gives us real confidence going forward.”
Elsewhere, Caerphilly were also victims of a scrum half blitz as Bargoed’s Mike Roberts claimed a hat-trick in his side’s 35-13 triumph at Virginia Park, while two David James tries helped Blackwood to an entertaining 37-23 victory over UWIC.
Newport Saracens pipped Beddau 14-13 and Rumney and Llanharan continued their revivals with wins over Fleur De Lys and Newbridge respectively.
In the West, Corus nearly pulled-off the result of the season as the bottom club pushed leaders Tonmawr all the way before finally succumbing 19-15.
The basement club outscored their hosts by two tries to one but ultimately it was the reliable boot of Austin Howells, who kicked a conversion and four penalties, which saved the home side’s blushes.
Carmarthen Quins were in position to capitalise had the leaders faltered as Arwel Davies and Anthony Rees went over in their 22-6 win over Dunvant and Llangennech remain in third after thumping Narberth, who were one place below them, 32-6 with centre Richard Thomas latching onto two interceptions in his hat-trick.
Simon Evans collected a brace as Bridgend Athletic recorded a shock 23-16 win over Bonymaen. Scott Robinson went over for Athletic’s other score while Neil White and Andy Lewis replied for the visitors.
Whitland turned the tables on higher opposition as they triumphed at home to Merthyr, 30-19. Gareth Lloyd, Matthew John and Lee Glanville scored the tries for hosts while Emyr Williams supplied 15 points from the boot.
Cwmllynfell stayed ahead of Waunarlwydd in the table after a 24-6 win.
