Jones looking to provide cutting edge

Mark Jones reckons he will provide a cutting edge for Wales as the side prepares to tackle Italy on Saturday.

Wales wing Jones was dropped by Head Coach Warren Gatland following the dragons’ opening triumph at Twickenham and told to up his game.

But Llanelli Scarlets flier Jones has been recalled ahead of rookie Jamie Roberts to the starting line-up for the RBS Six Nations clash against Italy on Saturday in Cardiff.

And Jones insists he is ready to add to his 12 tries in 35 Tests and bring the Three Feathers closer to championship glory.

Jones, 28, said: “I believe I will bring something to the team with my attacking ability. Trying to be in the right place at the right time is an art and it’s a difficult one to master.”

“I’m not being arrogant but I believe our back three are more potent than Italy. If myself, Shane Williams or Lee Byrne can get the ball in hand in space, we will cause them problems.”

Wales will be hoping for a lightning start to end a dismal run against bogey side Italy at the Millennium Stadium.

Wales haven’t beaten the Azzurri since the 2005 Grand Slam success following a draw in 2006 and last season’s 23-20 defeat in Rome.
