The Former Wales A international will leave his post as team manager following the Dragons final Magners League match against Leinster at Rodney Parade this weekend.

“I stand down from the position after five enormously enjoyable seasons as team manager, having worked with some fabulous players, coaches and staff at Rodney Parade,” said McCreedy. “I look forward to following the region as it moves into its new stadium and brings in new talent to enhance the squad, alongside what we have already developed here over the years.”

Newport Gwent Dragons Chief Executive Gethin Jenkins added: “Jim is a true Man of Gwent having played for Newport and Newbridge and steered the Dragons through birth and infancy. Jim has the region and the players’ interests at heart and, above all, the game of rugby union.

“I, for one, have learnt a lot from Jim and as we travel around the various venues have learnt how much he is respected. I hope we can persuade him to stay on in some capacity and find a suitable role for him as he will missed.”

Newport Gwent Dragons will be reviewing the role of team manager and plan to recruit ahead of next season.
