Bowe, 24, was the Ospreys’ first big-money signing of the close season after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal at the Liberty Stadium.
The Ospreys may have won the EDF Energy Cup but they missed out on the biggest prize of European club rugby after suffering a shock Heineken Cup quarter-final defeat to Saracens.
Head Coach Lyn Jones left by mutual consent and despite his successor still unannounced, Bowe insists he can propel them to European glory by working in tandem with Wales’s record try-scorer.
Bowe said: “Shane is up there with the best wingers in the world, if not the best. He’s an outstanding player and showed in the Six Nations and on the tour to South Africa that he was the stand-out player.
“You have to admire the season he’s had, as well as scoring tries, he creates space for himself and his teammates around him – let’s hope for the Ospreys’ sake he can carry that on.
“The main reason why I joined the Ospreys was to win things. The region have great ambition and Europe is a huge goal of mine. I’m sure the players were all disappointed to get knocked out at the last eight stage last year but our aim will be to become the best team in Europe next season.”
Bowe prepared for his move to South Wales as one of the bright spots on Ireland’s two-Test summer tour down under to New Zealand and Australia. But that wasn’t enough to record a famous victory over either of the Tri Nations giants and now the former Ulster flyer admits he is ready to shine again under caretaker boss Sean Holley.
Bowe, who has won 15 caps, added: “It was tough to leave Ulster because that’s the only club I’ve ever known. I had great memories there but I felt I needed a change.
“I’m really excited about the challenge ahead and I know I won’t be guaranteed a first-team place straightaway –Â but it’s down to me to work even harder.
“Of course we will have a new coach coming in but that will only benefit me because all the players will start with a clean slate.
“The Ospreys have great players, you only had to look at the number who made the Wales Grand Slam team and they play a great brand of rugby. I hope we can throw the ball about, score plenty of tries and excite the fans.”
