Speaking from the Wales training camp in Capetown he has urged the young squad to give their all for the jersey when they take to the field to represent Wales in the tournament.
The Wales captain took time out from preparing to face the Springboks to deliver the message on behalf of himself and the whole Welsh squad and management team. Ryan recorded a taped message which was sent personally to Wales U20 Coach Patrick Horgan and skipper Sam Warburton.
Wales U20 face Italy at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea a day before the senior team play the current Rugby World Champions in Bloemfontein.
Ryan Jones told the team to treasure the experience of wearing the Welsh jersey and give 110 per cent effort on the field.
He said: “From everyone out here in Capetown we just want to wish you all the best.”
After sending his message the Wales captain said: “We are all representing our nation and I just wanted them to know we are thinking of them right now.
“We’ll be keeping watch on all the news from their camp and watching out for every match result. They are taking part in a great competition and I know how hard each and every one of them has worked to get where they are today.
“We are totally focused on the job we have to do in Capetown but we want the Under 20’s to achieve all the goals they have set themselves.”
