Evans left the field during Wales’ 29-9 defeat to New Zealand in the Invesco Perpetual Series clash at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday and spent the weekend in hospital.
“Ian will be in recovery for a period of six to nine months once he has had his operation,” said Davies.
“The injury he has is quite common and has good recovery rates, but unfortunately there is no quick way back and Ian will not be back in action this season.”
There are no current plans to call up a replacement second row player to the Wales squad as adequate cover is already provided in that position.
