The Ospreys lock has attempted to play down Wales’s tag as clear favourites for the encounter after the opening weekend saw Wales brush aside Scotland and England repel a disappointing Italy.
“To hear England are massive underdogs, well I’ve never heard that before and I don’t know where people are getting that from,” said Gough.
“England bet Italy by 30 points and got slated. Maybe their performance didn’t go the way they would have liked but I would be happy to beat Italy by 30 points any time.
“People have to remember England won by more than us (last weekend) against a powerful Italy side, who are a tough and confrontational team and very frustrating to play against.
Gough is expecting England to target Wales’s lineout where red rose skipper Steve Borthwick and Nick Kennedy bring a physical presence to the party.
“England are traditionally a very good set-piece team and they probably have a bit more finesse about them now in the lineout with Steve Borthwick and Nick Kennedy. So they are bound to come at us.”
