The 29 year old from Aberyaeron – named in Warren Gatland’s squad to face France in the third leg of their RBS 6 Nations title defence – took time out from training to don his regional shirt and the white ribbon emblem at their Vale of Glamorgan base.

“I encourage all supporters to back this important campaign,” said Jones who will be looking to add to his 36 caps this weekend.

He added: “The white ribbon symbol is being used to draw attention to this worthy cause and I am delighted to give the campaign my full support.”

WRU players, coaches and officials have demonstrated their unity with the initiative by wearing the white ribbon emblem on their lapels before and after the Wales v England clash at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 14 February.

The WRU are thrilled that the regions are showing their support and urge all member clubs to back the campaign.

WRU Chairman David Pickering said: “Rugby is our national sport and our clubs boast a proud history of standing up for sportsmanship and honour.

“Our fans are renowned the world over for their rugby knowledge, their passion and their camaraderie so if we can use those strengths to help in a campaign as important as this we are delighted.

“Our clubs take part in so many community based initiatives which achieve so much and this particular cause neatly links the national team, our great Millennium Stadium and our grass roots clubs with a truly worthy cause.”

Posters have been sent out to all Welsh rugby clubs calling for players, supporters and volunteers to become ambassadors of the campaign on behalf of the national sport of Wales.

Clubs are asked to e-mailing a picture of one of their players wearing the ribbon to support@walestacklesdomesticabuse.com.
