Premiership champions Neath have arranged an extra game for Saturday when Division 1 West club Cwmllynfell visit The Gnoll (kick off 2.30pm).

With the Scotland-Wales international not taking place until Sunday, Neath are keen for additional action with several players ready to resume and Cwmllynfell, coached by former Aberavon outside-half Mike Lewis, can be relied upon to provide a stiff examination.

The Welsh All Blacks are likely to ring the changes from the side that started the 29-11 win at Bridgend last Saturday.
Outside-half Howard Thomas is set to make his first appearance of the season after dislocating his shoulder in pre-season training while speedy young wings David Evans and Liam Powell, centre Wayne Mitchell and scrum-half Gareth James are added to the squad that did duty last week. Up front Asheigh James is back in the frame and permits are being sought for a couple of young forwards.

Director of Rugby Rowland Phillips, said: “We were pleased with many aspects of our 29-11 win at Bridgend which was well deserved and the bonus point was important. Our forwards dominated all phases, Kevin Farrell’s hat-trick was an obvious highlight and we were very creative without always finishing off.

“We have now won seven games on the trot and are getting closer to where we want to be but we need to keep the pot boiling in between League and Cup games.

“Cwmllynfell always provide us with a challenge and they play direct yet enterprising rugby. Mike and Brian Lewis do a great job up there and in the past they have given us more to think about than some Premiership sides. They had a fine 50-12 win at Dunvant last week so are obviously in good form.

“With players returning, competition for places in the Neath team is hotting up which is very healthy for us. It should be an interesting game that will provide entertainment for the supporters who should turn out because, unless we progress in the Cup and get the good fortune of a home draw, we are not due to have another Saturday game at home until April 4th.”
