Pontyclun began strongly and were instantly on top. Flyhalf Katie Bevan put Ponty on the 5m line for an attacking scrum but the try was held up. After two more scrums No 8 Gemma Hallett crossed the line, for Bevan to convert to give Pontyclun a 7-0 lead.
Full-back Emma Winch was next on the score sheet with Ponty’s third following quickly by scrum half Laura Prosser, to put Ponty 17-0 ahead.
Waunarlwydd then got back into the game with a brief spell of pressure but they were unable to convert pressure into points. A quick lineout by Ponty which didn’t go 5m gave Waunarlwydd their best opportunity but they gave away a penalty for holding on.
Wing Natasha Peters then reaced in under the posts (converted by Bevan) and another quick try by Jamie- Lee Bennett, also successful converted by Bevan, made the score 31-0. Undeterred, Waunarlwydd went on the attack again but were beaten by the half time whistle.
The second half opened with a second try by Hallett, converted by Bevan, and there was no stopping Pontyclun. Natasha Peters ran in from the half way line and with Bevan adding another conversion, Ponty had raced out to a 45-0 lead.
Players then came and went from the field in a spell of yellow cards before Waunarlwydd eventually got on the score board with a try by No 8 Carol-Ann Burt.
From a quick tap penalty Prosser went in under the posts for her second of the match with the Bevan’s boot, as reliable as ever, making it 52-5.
From the kick off, a superb run by Bevan and great support by Peters put Ponty right back on the try line and a steel from the line out put Bennett in for her second, also converted by Bevan.
