Gethin Jenkins admits he is delighted to be reunited with British Lions front-row colleague Rees Adam Jones as Wales prepare for their opening RBS Six Nations clash with England.

The pair played in the same side came in the Lions brutal second Test defeat against the Springboks in Pretoria.

Loose-head Jenkins and tight-head Jones suffered long-term injuries but the prop duo are back in action and ready for Twickenham and Jenkins said: “It is great to have Adam back. The last time we played together we started well but we both went off injured.

“It will be nice to get the front-row back together and hopefully have a good forward effort against England.”

Wales return to HQ for the first time since breaking their 20-year hoodoo in 2008 after overcoming a 13-point deficit to win 26-19 in Warren Gatland’s first match in charge.

That inspired a historic Grand Slam while there has been further success at the venue since with the Blues and Ospreys winning the EDF Energy Cup against English opposition.

Jenkins added: “It makes a difference when you can remember going back into a Twickenham changing rooms knowing that you have celebrated a win.

“To get a win there two years ago was an important achievement for all the boys but it is still a daunting place to go and England are still a very good side at home.

“England have been written off by everyone but we know how good they are and how hard it is to win at Twickenham.”
