The Welsh team, coached by senior team members Gemma Hallett and Jenny Davies, went through the tournament unbeaten. Astonishingly, Welsh Colleges haven’t lost a game in the competition since 2008.
In the opening game against South West, tries by Alex Stokes, Rosie Fletcher and Rhianydd Morgan gave Welsh Colleges a narrow 15-14 win before the students brushed aside West Midlands 20-7 with Stokes, Morgan (2) and Steph Williams touching down.
In the third game Welsh Colleges recorded a comfortable 38-12 win over South East with Rosie Fletcher leading the way with a hat trick while Williams and Jessica Smith both crossed twice.
Tries by Williams and Nadine Powell were enough to secure a 10-0 victory over East before the unbeaten run was completed against North East with a 41-0 trouncing where the try scorers were Powell, Fletcher Delyth Davies (2) and Stokes.
