As part of the Social Committee along with Sheep [Shona Powell-Hughes] , Caryl [James], and [Rhian] Bowden we have been busy putting our social programme together; there’s got to be a balance between all the rugby, meetings, recovery, analysis and training with the just as important ‘down time’ where we can enjoy each other’s company, relax and switch off.
That’s where we come in and we have a few things in store for the squad, including Wales’s very own version of ‘Surrey’s Got (a limited amount of) Talent’ and some ‘Come Dine with Me’ evenings, along with day trips to London and Thorpe Park.
The Leadership Group (which comprises of our senior players Mel [Berry], Kifty [Jamie Kift], Cat [Nicholas], Nai [Naomi Thomas], [Clare Flowers] Flowey and Non [Evans]) were given the task of putting us into our accommodation floors, they were giving the responsibility of ensuring the early risers, night walkers, loud snorers, OCD’ers and messy hoarders were grouped together- three weeks is a long time to be in camp and we’ve all fully aware of individual traits by now; from first hand I’m well aware that using [Laura] Prosser’s towel to dry your feet is a big no no!
So with the accommodation list and the social programme all completed the last task was our very own ‘Tournament Theme Music’, finalising a CD for training sessions and pre match changing room to get the blood pumping, and then a social CD for post match celebrations that will be getting its premier on the Big Welsh Fun Bus journey up to Surrey.
It’s safe to say that between us we have a diverse choice of music and choosing the short list to make it to disk was intense, I’m feeling a bit Simon Cowel’esque and might just be bringing out a CD Box Set early next year: Now That’s What I Call the Best Rugby Anthems in The World Ever. Volume 1! Watch this space…
So here we go then, bring It On!!
