Each club has been awarded points based on WRU criteria which they can exchange for items they want from the brochure.
The WRU £1m Participation Points Catalogue contains an array of kit from bottled water to tackle bags and from rugby boots to SWALEC energy credits.
Instead of parting with cash every club can now use their points instead to help improve the facilities they offer to rugby players of all ages.
The project has been approved by the WRU to ensure Welsh rugby remains in good shape as the national sport of Wales.
The catalogue sent to the clubs contains an order form to be completed with a list of each product the relevant member club wants to receive.
The number of participation points each club has been awarded is based on the criteria checks already established so the number of teams from U7s to senior and women’s sides plus the number of first aiders, match officials and coaches will all contribute to the points they earn.
In addition to increasing participation levels the aim of this initiative is to ensure clubs across Wales are:
– supported by fully trained volunteers,
– properly equipped to develop the national sport of Wales, and are
– fully able to embrace the digital age
In a welcome foreword to the catalogue the WRU Group Chief Executive, Roger Lewis, writes: “We know our clubs are vital hubs at the heart of so many communities across the length and breadth of Wales.
“It is so important they thrive and prosper as places where young people and families who are new to rugby can feel welcome, safe and inspired to stay involved in our national sport.
“I am confident this brochure will now help Welsh rugby take another confident stride along the path to sustainability and success.”
