The intent of the teams, and perhaps the good ground and weather conditions, combined to produce three very good matches.

At Penygraig the visiting Coleg Gwent team built upon their success of last week, when they beat Neath, by beating Coleg Morgannwg 25-8.

Whilst the first half was a tight affair the Gwent team settled into an impressive second half performance. With backs and forwards combining well, and with extra pace in the backline and quality passing out of contact, the Gwent team scored four tries through Dan Franchi, Tom Ashmead, Leon Burgess and Scott Matthews.

Nial Martin rounded off the scoring for Gwent with a conversion and a penalty. For Morgannwg hooker Dan Watts scored a try and Garin Thomas kicked a penalty and a conversion.

Gower College Swansea proved too strong for Pembrokeshire at Narberth. The Swansea based College ran in 14 tries, seven of which were converted. Pembrokeshire answered with two tries and a conversion.

At Pencoed an excellent match between Bridgend and Neath led to a 28-21 victory for the home team.

Bridgend started strongly with a series of attacks combining backs and forwards. It however took some time for them to successfully cross the Neath try line. Adam Wellington scored a well worked try for Bridgend followed by tries before half time for Bridgend from lively hooker Evan Yardley and flanker Kyle Davies.

Man of the Match Bridgend outside half Corey Butler kicked a penalty and a conversion before the break. Neath also scored a fine try by Ben Davie before half time.

In the second half Bridgend extended their lead with a score from No.8 Corey Butler. Neath’s enterprising backs came more into the match and scored the final two tries of the match from Matthew Jones and winger Nathan Brookes. Rhodri Coles kicked three conversions for Neath.
