They travel to fellow Four East side Senghenydd who were beaten semi-finalists in last year’s competition. The Saints, who received a bye in the first round, have won all five league matches to date and will provide a stern test for Abercarn who visit Welfare Park this Saturday in a league game ‘dress rehearsal’.

Last year’s beaten finalists, Trebanos of Five South West, outplayed Swansea University to win 33-5 in round one and they have been rewarded with another home tie when they host Betws of Four West. ‘Banos have started strongly in the league and will be looking to take full advantage of playing on the Trebanos Park pitch but Ammanford-based Betws are sure to be up for the challenge.

Hafodyrynys, of SWALEC League Six South East, were the top scorers in round one after thrashing Cwmcarn 89-6 and they will want more of the same when they entertain Six East side Aberbeeg at their Welfare Park ground.

Amman United have opened up a four point gap at the top of Four West with five straight league victories and they comfortably dispatched Five West’s Bynea 69-14 last week. They have been given another home tie with Gowerton of Five South West visiting Cwmamman Park in round two.

Abergele are new to Two North this season and they progressed to round two after a 58-6 defeat of Bangor. This has given them another home tie against fellow Two North side Dolgellau who have already been beaten 15-14 at Abergele in the league this season. Another tight encounter between the packs is likely but home advantage may prove crucial.

Cardiff Medicals beat Dinas Powys of Five South East 60-0 at The Common in round one and they will be very confident after being given a home draw against another Five South East side in Canton.

Other Cardiff derbies will be at the Cathedral Ground where Llandaff entertain St Albans, and Blackweir where St Josephs will host Cardiff University.

The next round of SWALEC knock-out rugby includes Round One of the SWALEC Plate where one of the key matches will be a derby tie when Aberavon Green Stars of Three South West make the short trip to play Aberavon Quins of Two West. Quins made it to round four last season before losing out at Loughor and will go into the match as firm favourites.

Last season’s losing semi-finalists Llantwit Fardre and Loughor have both been given a home draws in the Plate competition. Llantwit Fardre will entertain Pentyrch of Three East while Loughor play host to Mumbles of Three West and both will be looking to go one better than last term. Last year’s finalists Kenfig Hill have a bye in Round One while winners Maesteg have been promoted to Division One West and with promotion comes a place in the Cup competition where they have a Round One bye,

In an all Two West tussle, relegated Builth Wells play their first match in the Plate when they travel to Tondu who are on a high after winning promotion from Three South West last season.

BP Llandarcy will be looking to put the disappointment of just missing out on promotion from Two West by having a better cup run than last season when they were knocked out in the second round at Glynneath. They will entertain Brynamman of Three South West.

Pwllheli meet Colwyn Bay and Bro Ffestiniog travel to Caernarfon in all North Wales clashes, while promoted Two East side Fleur de Lys will welcome neighbours Penallta to Trellyn Park.
