The Ken Jones Clubman of the Year Cup was presented to Mike Cray of Kidwelly for his immense contribution to a club where many think that it would not function without him.

On Saturdays he runs the line, fills the water bottles, distributes the kit and acts as the 1st Aider. On Sunday, as a Level 1 Referee, he helps with the Junior Sections. As vice-chairman of the social side of the club, he looks after the maintenance of the club and still finds time to organise the ‘100 Club’ raffle, which has over 200 members.

Mike is a very popular member of the club with ‘black and amber’ blood in his veins. Mike received his award from WRU President, Dennis Gethin.

The Raymond Thomas Player of the Year Cup was presented to Carmarthen propKevin Jones, of who appeared in all 22 league games for his club in the WRU’s National League Division One last season.

He also played in six Principality Cup games, the last one being the Swalec Cup final at the Millennium Stadium. He has been a regular member of Carmarthen’s 1st XV for the last three seasons and has played 64 league games during that time. Front row forwards are often the unsung heroes of the game and Kevin fully deserves his award. Kevin received his award from Jason Lewis, the WRU Community Rugby Development Manager.

The George Thorne U21 Player of the Year award was presented to flanker Daniel Thomas of Kidwelly. Daniel is the youngest ever player to achieve the honour, which follows his performances in the backrow for Wales U16 last season.

He was named ‘player of the tournament’ by the opposition coaches in Rome during last season’s competitions where the Welsh team beat the England U17 and Italy U17 teams before narrowly losing to France U17’s. Daniel played in every game and is now in the Scarlets Academy with a promising future.
