Wales endured a frustrating time in last year’s fixture but Bishop is hoping Wales can make up for the defeat as he strives to nail down a starting spot in Warren Gatland’s XV.
“Last year we struggled with their defensive game, they really came at us and we were very disappointed with the result,” said Bishop.
“The boys are still hurting from it and want to put it right.”
But Wales face an on-fire Wallabies outfit who sealed an historic victory over New Zealand on the weekend, to end a 10-match losing streak against the All Blacks.
“Australia were impressive,” said Bishop.
“Their attack was top class and we expect the same on Saturday. Australia will have a lot of confidence, they’ll be on a high and probably expect to win.
“They have a quality back line and we expect a tough test against them. They’ve some good side-steppers and ball players and will be very difficult to defend against but hopefully we can raise our game.
“You just don’t know what to expect from guys like Quade Cooper as he has a great offload game. But we have to keep our eye on their attackers from 9 to 15.
“Adam Ashely-Cooper has now made it clear he wants to be a centre and is doing a great job of it. He scored a great try against New Zealand and will be full of confidence.”
If selected in the squad for Saturday’s encounter, it will be the third time Bishop has faced Australia after coming off the bench in 2008’s 21-18 victory and last year’s loss.
And Bishop is hoping to make it two triumphs from three as he aims to stake a claim for a regular Wales place.
“It’s the third time i’ve played against Australia,” continued Bishop.
“I know how tough it is, I know what level of intensity to expect.
“I’ve not nailed down a starting spot but that’s what I’m aiming to do. Even with the injuries it is still one of those positions where we have a bit of strength in depth and there’s still competition there.
“I’ve done all I can, and if I get selected, i’m hoping to put in a big performance on Saturday.”
