The Ospreys front rower says Wales are confident after a good series of training sessions where the gameplan was fine tuned for the weekend encounter.
After arriving in Scotland he said: “We’ve had a big week in training and we’ve put a few wrongs right. Now we are all looking forward to getting started.”
He said he and his Wales front row teammates are relishing the prospect of their own battle with the Scottish scrum after Wales had a strong set piece game against England.
“As a front row we went pretty well and I thought Craig Mitchell played very well so we want to build on that performance and hopefully we can. Scotland might not have had the best scrum against France but they have got a good pack and we know they will be a challenge for us.
“We have got to stay tight this week as a pack and we will focus on that come Saturday. If we stick to our jobs and work effectively I am confident we won’t have any issues as a pack on the day.
“As a team we weren’t far off against England and it’s all about us taking our opportunities in the game. Last year it was a tough game against Scotland and we know the match isn’t over until the final whistle is blown.
“We have Hooky at 10 and we know he is an attacking threat so the boys will be right behind him.”
