The clothing range will be available at the Ospreys’ superstore from this week ahead of their Magners League clash with Glasgow Warriors.
“It’s nice to be involved in something a little bit different, although I think Tommy and Mike Phillips probably have a better chance of turning their hand to a modelling career,” admitted Shane Williams.
“We often get the chance to do different things on the promotional front, but this is a first for me. I’m not much of a model, but I’m just hoping to get a few free samples to take home with me.”
The Ospreys have forged a working partnership with ‘Freee’, whose logo is currently appearing on the rugby jerseys of three Welsh college sides, Bridgend, Gower and Neath Port Talbot, who are involved in the Magners League Grand Final winners’ innovative college rugby programme.
“A lot of the boys had been practising their ‘Blue Steel’ pose from the Zoolander film. Some took to it better than others, but I think Dan Biggar struggled a bit,” admitted Tommy Bowe.
A youth oriented design house, ‘Freee’ will release their UK summer collection at the Ospreys Superstore this weekend and at ‘Tempo’ stores in Neath, Carmarthen and Swansea.
As well as taking part in the promotional photo-shoot, Ospreys stars such as Ryan Jones, Adam Jones, Mike Phillips and skipper Alun Wyn Jones will be attending the launch of the new range at the Tempo store in Neath on Saturday between 1.30-2.30pm this weekend and then at the Ospreys Superstore from 3.30pm.
Similar in outlook and design to the Superdry, Diesel and Quicksilver brands, the initial ‘Freee’ range is limited to men’s T-shirts, priced at £24.95. Their full winter range of men’s and women’s T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts will be available in store later in the year.
