The Wizards have won both Principality Premiership matches between the two sides this season where Aberavon find themselves in fourth position in the points table while the Drovers are just one place off the basement in 13th position but the league table counts for nothing in a cup competition.

Aberavon coach Simon King, said: “Getting to the semi is a just reward for the boys after coming through a tough quarter against Cardiff at the Arms Park. To go there and get a win was a real boost and now we’re looking forward to the challenge Llandovery will bring.

“From a personal perspective, you work hard to coach teams to finals so it would be great to get there, but most importantly it would be great for the boys, the club, the supporters, and all the people who put so much time and effort into the club behind the scenes, the unsung heroes.

“We have been there or thereabouts in the last few seasons, and semis have been our downfall. They tend to be real arm wrestles, tight, nervous affairs, but if we manage ourselves well on Saturday, we should be in the right place at the right time hopefully.

“There are some young players to watch in our side – Aron Bray in the backrow who played at the Millennium Stadium for Swansea University recently, and a good prospect at scrum half in Dan Davies.”

Llandovery’s Louie Tonkin is confident his side can reach the Millennium Stadium final if they can perform on the day.

“We’re going into the game with a good run of form behind us,” he said. “We’ve got four wins from six games, so we go into the game quite confident with a fully fit squad.

“Our season has been one of two halves really, we weren’t happy with our form at the beginning of the season but lately we have started to perform better.

“We’ve got to really focus on doing a job against Aberavon as they are a very good side, we’ll have to play very, very well to beat them.

“We’re very familiar with them and we’re confident we can go out and perform against them and hopefully that will be enough to get the right result.”
