The Cardiff Blues star was named captain of a 26-man squad announced yesterday by Warren Gatland for the game which is just over three weeks away.
The 22-year-old made his International debut back in the summer of 2009 and has gone onto make 14 appearances for Wales and the former Wales Under 19’s and U20’s captain is looking forward to stepping up to the role at senior level.
“To be honest it was something I wasn’t expecting at all,” he said. “It came right out of the blue and now the game can’t come quickly enough for me.
“It has all happened so quickly, I was just glad to be in the squad after a few injuries this season let alone be captain.
“I’m really glad that Warren has the faith in me to lead the team and it is going to be an exciting few weeks.
“I have got a bit of captaincy experience behind me from Wales U19’s and U20’s but I am just aiming to prepare as normal and enjoy the week,
“I have been around squad now for a few years and I don’t feel as new as I used to and looking forward to stepping up.
“Its going to be exciting game, we have some great young players in the squad especially guys like Toby Faletau and I cant wait to pack down next to him if he gets the start at eight.”
