Llantrisant-born, Palmer came up through the ranks of the Blues Academy, winning caps for Wales at Youth level and becoming a key member of the Wales Under 20 team during the 2008 World Cup.
Having previously been allocated to both Llantrisant and Cardiff, Palmer moved to Pontypridd in 2009. He quickly established himself as a solid scrummager and a high impact player in the loose, with call ups following to represent the Blues at senior level and the Barbarians.
A move to the Gwent Dragons senior squad followed in the summer of 2010, initially on loan but then on a permanent basis.
Twelve months on and Palmer was surprisingly released by the Newport-based region as part of their squad review, opening the way for a return to Ponty colours.
Pontypridd are delighted that 23 year-old Pat Palmer will now once more be signed up to their ranks. His undoubted ability as a scrum anchorman and an industrious performer around the field, enhanced by the experience he has gained at senior regional level, will provide a huge boost to the club’s ambitions
