When the season kicks off for the Falcons on the 18th September with the home game against Cardiff Quins, they’ll be lead by 25 year old Falcon veteran , Catryn Grundy, with the vice captain duties falling to seasoned Welsh international Laura Prosser.
For Grundy, the 2011/2012 season will mark her 10th anniversary as a Falcon and the versatile player is looking forward the additional responsibility that being club captain carries.
“It’s about time!” she said.
“On a serious note, we’ve a young, talented squad and it’s an honour to have been voted captain. We’ve got high expectations this season and the hard work begins now.”
The Falcon coaching team has also been strengthened this season with the appointment of Pontyclun Falcon legend and founder Oneata Bibey as a forwards coach.
The Falcons train every Tuesday and Thursday at Pontyclun rugby club with an optional third session at Merthyr Mawr sand dunes every Saturday. We’re always looking out for new players no matter what level of experience or fitness, just get in touch.
