The Blues take on the Scarlets and the two youngsters who have put in some impressive performances for their region this season anticipate a hard fought but open game.

Speaking at the Cardiff City Stadium, Fish said, “Obviously it was a disappointing result up in Newcastle, but all the boys contributed to the game, so we have to take the positives into the Scarlets match this Sunday.”

“I’ve played with a couple of the Scarlets boys at age grade level and against them also so it should be a good test for both teams. It’s a must win game for us now. You can’t lose your first two games in any tournament and expect to get through, although it does work a bit differently in the LV=Cup.”

“We have to go out there and do the business. It’s been a great opportunity for me to play for the Blues and if you are given the chance you have to make sure you grab it and keep playing.”

“I like to run with the ball so obviously the game plan we have this season suits my style of play. We try to play a nice open game, so it gives the players the chance to run and show their skills.”

“It’s always nice to see players run with the ball so hopefully there will be some running rugby as we both like to play a wide game so hopefully it will be a good spectacle for the crowd.”

Williams has featured four times for the senior side this season and he also sees the benefit of the competition.

“It’s been good just to come into the squad from Llanelli RFC and a great experience,” he said. “The Scarlets have got good young coaches like Mark Jones and Simon Easterby, who have loads of experience playing at the highest level.

“Mark was a big fast wing and was a class act, so he’s someone I’ve always looked up to, especially in the position that I play. So it’s been great to learn from him.”

With both the Blues and the Scarlets fielding young sides last weekend, Williams feels the competition is the ideal platform for the youngsters.

“It’s always nice for the youngsters to have a chance and all the young players we have here are talented, so it’s good to give them some game time.

“It’s great to be able to play a Welsh derby in Cardiff and I’ve played with a couple of the Blues players in the Six Nations and the Junior Rugby World Cup so it will be good to play against those boys.

“There are loads of great young players at the Blues and Owen Williams and Thomas Young are two that stand out for me, so I’m looking forward to a hard match against them.”
