The 2011-12 HSBC Sevens World Series kicks off tomorrow at the home of the Gold Coast Titans, the NRL team with Wales grouped with England, Scotland and Tonga.
Wales have sent over a new combination, mainly because a number of key players are suffering injuries but Pugh is confident his young side can get off to a flying start.
“It’s going to be a test as we’ve got three weeks as opposed to two on the trot. It’s important we get off to a decent star because the first tournmane counts as seeding to the next few torunaments. If we can carry on like the way we finished last season at Twickenham and Murrayfield, we should do ok.”
Greg Barden, England captain said: “Looking around, it’s 30 degrees already, beautiful sunshine and no better place to start the Series. We have a lot of faces from old, everyone has had a tournament so there is a lot of experience in the squad.”
