Wales stars to visit WRU shop

Three of Wales’ Rugby World Cup stars, Luke Charteris, Dan Lydiate and Lloyd Williams will visit the WRU Shop – ‘the Cardiff Arms’ at No8 Westgate Street – tomorrow, (Wed) from 4pm to 5pm, to meet fans and shoppers and sign autographs, with everyone welcome to attend.

Giant Dragons lock Charteris, who started in six of Wales seven matches in New Zealand, his regional colleague Lydiate and Blues scrum-half Williams are set to be re-united with their international team-mates ahead of the ‘re-match’ with Australia at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 3 December (kick-off 2.30pm).

Since returning from a RWC campaign which saw Wales reach the semi-finals for only the second time in history and then suffer a narrow defeat to the Wallabies in the RWC third place play-off match, the players have been awarded some well earned rest before returning to their Regions to continue with domestic competition.

The first round of Heineken and Amlin Challenge Cup competition, which saw each of the Welsh regions seal European victories last weekend, shows that the players have had little trouble in re-acclimatising themselves to Regional rugby after the dizzy heights reached on foreign soil.

But fans will have the opportunity to remind the players just how much their RWC efforts where appreciated in just over two weeks time, when they turn out to support their homecoming against the Wallabies at the Millennium Stadium.

With 51,000 tickets, and counting, sold already the day promises to be a true celebration of Welsh rugby and, for a taster of what is to come, fans who can get to Cardiff for 4pm tomorrow will have the opportunity to meet and greet three of their heroes in person at the official WRU shop, located at the East side of Millennium Stadium in between Gates 4 and 5.

“The demand for tickets for this homecoming match for Wales against Australia been just as high as we expected,” said a WRU spokesperson.

“After in excess of 60,000 turned up to watch the players on the big screens for the Rugby World Cup semi-final we knew that the thirst and appetite for Welsh rugby was as strong as it has ever been.

“The players made every Welsh man and woman proud with the way they represented the nation at the world cup and now it is our turn as fans to show them how we feel about them at their first match back on home soil against the Wallabies on 3rd December.

“And for fans who can’t wait until next month, we hope they will appreciate  this opportunity to meet and greet with three of our RWC stars tomorrow in Cardiff City centre.”
