Cross Keys catapulted into the semi-finals of the cross border competition after scoring four tries, with fly half  Steffan Jones getting two and lock Dan Hodge and wing Nathan Trowbridge the others. Jones also kicked three conversions and two penalties in a 22-point haul.

Cross Keys backs coach Mark Ring is pleased with the Keys success, “We have had great success in the group stages because I believe we play expansive rugby, there’s a lot of positivity in the squad and week in, week out we have played with confidence and that has given us this self-belief.

“I’m really pleased with how we have done in our first time in the British and Irish Cup, we’ve played on some mucky tracks over the weeks but we have still managed to play good, expansive rugby.

“It’s a credit to the players, the squad know that each time they play they are playing to keep their position and that hunger has produced results.

“We’ll find out who we face next weekend but now it’s important that the guys put the British and Irish Cup to the back of their minds and focus on this weekend’s game against Bedwas.”
