Warburton took a full part in training on Monday and was involved in the Tuesday afternoon session as well and Jenkins admitted everyone was hopeful he will recover in time to lead the team at the Millennium Stadium.
“Sam trained yesterday and this morning. Fingers crossed, he is going pretty well.
With him being captain and as good a player as he is we will give him as long as possible,” said Jenkins.
“Sam has been an outstanding player for us over the last couple of years. As captain he has been incredible. But when someone drops there are people to come in and step up and Justin Tipuric was fantastic for us last weekend.”
Jenkins just missed out on a Grand Slam as a player, when the Welsh side of 1994 fell at the last hurdle against England at Twickenham, but has been involved as a coach. France may have lost at home to England last weekend, but the former world points record holder believes that will only make them tougher to beat.
“We are playing a side we haven’t beaten since 2008, who were unlucky to lose the World Cup final and who beat us in the semi-finals,” said Jenkins.
“We are under no illusions as to how hard to is going to be. They have some fantastic players and last weekend’s defeat will only have hurt them more and they will want to come out and prove a point on Saturday.”
