Swansea currently have the bragging rights following two consecutive Varsity triumphs, including a 28-18 victory in front of more than 14,500 students last year.

Swansea face a Cardiff side, who have secured a league double over their bitter rivals upon their return to BUCS Premier Division and are determined to avenge last year’s Millennium Stadium loss.

“This season has gone very well,” said Cardiff captain Jake Cooper-Woolley. We recorded the double over Swansea, beat UWIC for the first time in the club’s history and narrowly lost a BUCS Championship quarter final to the reigning champions Durham.”

“But going into the Varsity match with two wins is bittersweet as Swansea may prefer the title of under dogs, meaning we are now expected to win.

The Millennium Stadium Varsity Match is the culmination of a day of competition between the two universities including more than 20 sports.

Up to 30,000 students are expected to pack into the home of Welsh rugby with the Varsity Shield also up for grabs.
