After claiming a shock 9-6 victory over defending champions New Zealand in the pool stages, Wales were beaten 30-6 by the rejuvenated Baby Blacks in the semi-finals at Newlands.
But Scarlets-bound Wilson insists there is plenty to be proud of from the campaign in South Africa and issued a battle cry ahead of the third-place play-off with the Pumas.
“The scoreline is far from a disgrace against the four-times champions, but the players have stated that they are determined to go out on Friday and win our final match to finish third in the world,” said Wilson.
“That is something no other Welsh team has done and we will prepare as well as we have done for every other game in order to do that.”
“We are proud of the boys, there was no lack of effort against New Zealand, but at the end of the day, we are disappointed.”
Argentina, previously unbeaten in the tournament, lost 35-3 against the dominant South Africans in the other semi-final.
But despite their semi-final defeats both teams will see the tournament as a significant success.Â
Wales will now focus all their attentions on the upcoming play-off, hoping to achieve their highest placed finish.
“We can take a lot away from this tournament,” added skipper Kirby Myhill.
“No Welsh team has ever finished third, so that is what we will be striving for on Friday.”
