Davies was made the Blues’ new director of rugby in May and has taken his squad, minus its Wales summer tourists and Under-20s, to South Africa for pre-season preparations.
The Blues have endured a punishing pre-season but the former Wales forward reckons they are ready to take to the pitch.
“The players have worked very hard this week,” said Davies.
“We have undertaken seven sessions in total and the aim has been to lay down some of our team organisational structures. I’m pleased we have achieved this.
“There is still a lot to do, however we are ready to play our first game.
“The only injury we have picked up is to Marc Breeze who has a slight knee problem and because it’s early in pre-season we may not risk him.
“Scott Andrews will take over if we have a problem at hooker during the game.
“The rest of the squad is in good spirits and feeling sharp.
“I have made sure that all the players who have travelled will get game time as that’s important this time of year.”
Davies has named almost entirely different teams for the first and second halves on the High Veld, with Tom James, Chris Czekaj and South African-born captain Andries Pretorius the only players set to play the whole game.
New signings Jason Tovey, Andy Kyriacou, Benoit Borrust, Robin Copeland and Jake Cooper-Woolley will all make their debuts for the region.
