The Scarlets will be looking to build on their positive and intense pre-season training and conditioning programmes with some tough opposition which they know will be provided by Richard Hill’s Worcester Warriors. Worcester last faced Scarlets in the LV= Cup in November 2009 when the Welsh region secured a 32-17 victory at Parc y Scarlets.
Scarlets Head Coach Simon Easterby has opted to test some new combinations with a mix of experience and some new faces joining the match day squad.
Back into the starting line-up are a handful of key Scarlets players including Wales international Ken Owens at hooker, Aaron Shingler in the second row alongside new signing South African lock George Earle, Josh Turnbull in the back row with popular Scarlet Tavis Knoyle at scrum-half returning from injury last season and with a full pre-season training period under his belt.
Easterby said: “This is an important fixture for us to see some other combinations on the field and how they work and to see how we’ve progressed in the summer and since our week’s training camp in France.
“We’ve got some strong players on the bench to come on and take their opportunities including some players from our Premiership partner clubs and it will be good chance for us to see how they perform and fit at this stage ahead of the new season.”
