Although it was the Dragons who started the game with intent, it was the visitors who moved into an early lead. Hoping to use their home advantage, the Dragons quickly had their fire put out in the early minutes of the game as the Ospreys drew first blood.
Fullback Dafydd Howells scored for the first try out wide and although Luke Price failed to convert, some great defensive work quickly resulted in another try for Welsh international Howells. This time Price successfully converted and with a 12 point lead so early in the game, it looked like the Dragons were out of it with the game just 10 minutes old.
Staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat, Dragons head coach Rob Sidoli fired up his side with some strong words from the touchline. And it seemed to do the trick as the Dragons went on to score 20 unanswered points.
They soon got on the score sheet with a penalty kicked by Angus O’Brien and nothing was going to get in the way of prop Keagan Bale who crossed for the Dragons first try.
O’Brien converted and added another penalty before Ashton Hewitt crossed for the Dragons second score. Angus gain converted and kicked another penalty to send the Dragons into the interval 20-12 up.
The second half started in similar vein to the first with the Ospreys putting the first points on the board with a penalty from Price.
Both sides were evenly matched for the rest of the half but it was the Dragons who came out the victors scoring another six points through the dependable boot of fly-half O’Brien.
