Young scrum-half Tom Habberfield has been ruled out of action after suffering an ankle injury on Premiership duty with Bridgend Ravens last weekend.

The 20-year old was forced off early in the second half of Bridgend’s win over Llanelli at the Riverside Hardware Brewery Field and after he underwent an MRI scan this week Ospreys Head Physio, Chris Towers, was able to confirm the lay-off.

“We’ve had his ankle scanned earlier this week, confirming the ligament damage that we had expected” he said.

“The next step will be to investigate the extent of the injury with a foot and ankle specialist but at this stage we aren’t able to give a precise estimate on how long Tom can expect to be unavailable. We are currently looking at a best case scenario of around six weeks but that will be looked at again once we have completed all our investigations.”
