It was a comprehensive win for the visitors although with half an hour gone, the score stood at 3-3 despite Llanelli dominating the game.
Jordan Williams and Tom Hancock exchanged penalties for either side before No. 8 Craig Everett was yellow carded for the home side. The referee soon awarded a penalty try following a scrum near the line and then sent Newport hooker Ryan Prosser to join Everett in the sin bin as the home team’s frustrations started to show.
Kristian Phillips then went over as Llanelli made the most of their two man advantage and Williams’ conversion made the score 3-17. Llanelli prop Shaun Hopkins was also yellow carded for slowing the ball down and Hancock dropped a neat goal for a score of 6-17 at half-time.
Just 46 seconds after the restart, Llanelli centre Nic Reynolds cut through the Newport defence to make the score 6-24. Reynolds then sent Phillips over for his second try as the visitors went further clear.
Llanelli then added further tries through Justin James and then Craig Price as they recorded a comfortable win.
